SERENA

Serena Sailing YachtJoin Captain John Borden aboard the jewel of Charleston, Sailing Vessel SERENA. Captain John has been taking Wild Dunes groups sailing in Charleston for over 12 years. He not only holds a degree in literature from the University of North Carolina, he is a published author and also studied at Oxford University and the University of Munich. John has sailed everything from catamarans to brigantines spanning both the East & West coasts of the United States, Bahamas, Eastern Caribbean including the Virgin Islands, Leewards & Windwards, as well as running a tall ship in Australia. While in the Mediterranean, he even had an opportunity to sail ENDEAVOUR, the 130’ 1934 America’s Cup Challenger.

SERENA is a 50’ classic sloop designed by Bill Tripp, and one of only 10 in the world. While aboard SERENA, Captain John, will show you the wonders of the Barrier Islands with opportunities to see dolphin, the historical sites of the Charleston Harbor or the excitement of the Atlantic should you decide to sail offshore. SERENA was recently refit at the Palmer Johnson yard with special attention to her new rigging, new engine and Awlgrip hull.

SERENA offers plenty of above deck and below deck space for milling about. Lifelines encircle the entire length of the vessel and the lifelines are covered with safety netting. Also, there is a large cushioned cockpit for seating, a cushioned bench on the fore deck, settee in the salon and lots of deck cushions. Below decks you will find one queen cabin, one double v-berth cabin, salon, fully galley and head (bathroom).

Sailing opportunities include the 2 Hour Barrier Island Sail, 2 Hour Pirate Adventure, 2 or 3 Hour afternoon and Sunset Sails, 3 Hour Harbor Sails and 6 Hour day and/or offshore
excursions. End of B-Dock, Wild Dunes Yacht Harbor, Charleston Harbor Marina at Patriot’s Point, and The Charleston City Marina.

SERENA Family Sail - The entire family is invited to set sail for the scenic barrier islands aboard 50’ classic sailing sloop SERENA. Get a close up view of dolphin and other wildlife while gliding through the pristine waters of the Lowcountry. Learn basic sailing skills or relax on the foredeck and soak up the sun. SERENA features a cushioned cockpit, deck cushions, cabins and bathroom, as well as complimentary soda and bottled water. With our large ice filled cooler, guests are welcome to bring their favorite beverages and snacks. (10am-12noon, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Wild Dunes Yacht Harbor, end of B-Dock, $35/adults, $25/children 12 and under, Complimentary bottled water and soft drinks, Minimum 8 passengers to sail, Maximum 20)

SERENA Sunset Sail - What better way to catch a romantic barrier island sunset than from the most beautiful yacht in the Lowcountry! Join the knowledgeable crew aboard SERENA: Wild Dunes very own classic 50’ sailing vessel. Toast the perfect finish to another day while listening to the stereo sounds of SERENA’s high fidelity CD changer. Complimentary soda & bottled water, and of course guests are always welcome to bring aboard their favorite food and beverages. ( 6:00pm-8:00pm, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Wild Dunes Yacht Harbor, end of B-Dock, $35/adults, $25/children 12 and under, Complimentary bottled water and soft drinks, Minimum 8 passengers to sail, Maximum 20)

 PALMETTO BREEZE Harbor Sunset Sail - Board Charleston’s ultimate sailing catamaran and set sail to see all the historic sites from the water! PALMETTO BREEZE is both fast and spacious. Relax out on her deck of 1700 sq. ft. or under her covered cockpit, and experience spectacular views of Forts Moultrie and Sumter, Castle Pinckney, the USS Yorktown, the colorful rainbow row, beautiful Charleston city skyline, and all the breathtaking wildlife of the Low Country. (6pm-8pm, Fri. & Sat., Charleston Harbor Marina at Patriot’s Point, $25/adults, $15/children 12-3 yrs., children 2 & under Free, Complimentary bottled water, soft drinks, and light snacks with a Cash Bar. Red’s Sails Begin 2nd Week of March (Weather Permitting!!!) PALMETTO BREEZE Straight From the Creek! - Board at Red’s on Shem Creek in Mt. Pleasant and enjoy a beautiful sunset in the Charleston Harbor. Red’s on board for free drinks and free munchies like: crab dip, black bean salsa, peel & eat shrimp, as well as beer, and rum punch. ( 6pm-8:30pm, Wed., $30/per person. Complimentary bottled water and soft drinks, Min. 20 pass. to sail, Max. 100) Note: March will be 5pm-7pm, and we will adjust according to sunset as the season progresses.  

PALMETTO BREEZE Isle of Palms Aloha Sunset - PALMETTO BREEZE sunset sail with a carefree island twist! Each guest is greeted by our fun-loving crew with a colorful “sunset” Hawaiian lea. Once underway the party really gets cranking with a bountiful collection of tropical music to soothe your soul and wash away all your worries. The perfect way to say aloha to another beautiful day! Snacks, bottled water, and soft drinks are free. Cash bar for beer & wine. (6pm-8:30pm, Thursday., $30/adults, $15/children 12-3 yrs., children 2 & under Free, Complimentary bottled water & soda, cash bar, Min. 20 pass. to sail, Max. 100)

PALMETTO BREEZE Pirate Sailing Adventure - Join the crew of the spacious sailing vessel PALMETTO BREEZEfor a legendary Pirate Adventure complete with Pirate Lore Historian “Renegade Russell” our licensed Charleston History guide and Buccaneer expert! With his Masters in History, Russell taught US History for 17 years, and is a great addition to the crew. Special hidden treasure is shared with all the passengers, if they can find it! As always, kids of all ages are encouraged to assist the Captain trimming the sails or taking a turn at the wheel. Along with the “Pirate Booty” as souvenirs, there’s the pirate treasure map, & complimentary soda & bottled water. Guests are also welcome to bring snacks for the young pirates, and feel free to “dress the part!”. PALMETTO BREEZE Dolphin Watch - Designed for shallow water, PALMETTO BREEZE allows for an up close view of Lowcountry marine life. With “Jungle Jane” leading the group we are on the look out for dolphin, turtles, manatee and shore birds while sailing in harmony with the natural surroundings. After earning her Masters Jane worked for the Department of Natural Resources, and now teaches middle school science. As always on PALMETTO BREEZE, soft drinks and bottled water are complimentary.
